Abstrak

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah pneumatologi eklesial komuni (ecclesial communion pneumatology) sebagai kerangka teologis bagi gereja virtual (VR Church) yang memanfaatkan kecerdasan buatan (AI) dan realitas virtual (VR). Secara khusus, tulisan ini berupaya menjawab pertanyaan ontologis dan teologis tentang apakah Roh Kudus dapat hadir dan bekerja secara autentik dalam liturgi digital yang dimediasi oleh teknologi, serta bagaimana AI dapat berperan sebagai mitra instrumental tanpa menggantikan relasi personal yang sejati. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif transdisipliner melalui studi pustaka reflektif. Sumber yang dianalisis meliputi teks-teks teologis-filosofis (khususnya pneumatologi komuni John Zizioulas, teologi partisipasi Amos Yong, serta pemikiran tentang kehampaan dan teopoetika), artikel tentang AI dan VR, dokumen gerejawi, serta kajian metaverse. Analisis dilakukan secara reflektif untuk melihat keterkaitan antara estetika ruang sakral digital, spiritualitas kontemporer, dan kritik budaya. Roh Kudus sendiri yang membentuk gereja sebagai “cara berada” (mode of being) yang relasional dan ekstatik, sehingga medium digital (AI/VR) pada prinsipnya dapat menjadi ruang di mana Roh membentuk ecclesial hypostasis—identitas personal yang tidak lagi ditentukan oleh batasan ruang dan fisik—sepanjang teknologi tersebut berfungsi untuk memfasilitasi, bukan menggantikan, relasi kasih yang mempersonalisasi. Karena itu, gereja virtual bukanlah pengganti darurat melainkan ekspresi baru dari realitas komuni yang telah lebih dahulu ada dalam diri Allah Tritunggal

Josua Estomihi Butarbutar saat ini menempuh pendidikan sarjana di program studi Filsafat Keilahian, Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana, Yogyakarta. Dalam studinya, ia berfokus pada persinggungan antara filsafat dan teologi kontemporer, khususnya melalui kajian teopoetika, mistisisme, serta isu seksualitas.
