Abstrak

Tulisan ini mengkaji penghukuman kekal dalam universalisme Karl Barth berdasarkan karya besarnya Church Dogmatics. Barth memang menolak doktrin apokatastasis secara definitif, namun sepanjang penjelasannya terhadap konsep pemilihan dan rekonsiliasi, jelas terlihat bahwa bagi Barth pemilihan telah terjadi secara nyata bagi umat manusia sehingga keselamatan bersifat lengkap dan selesai. Konsekuensinya, penghukuman kekal tidak lagi jatuh kepada manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kajian literatur. Melaluinya telaah akan dilakukan khusus kepada tema pemilihan Kristus dalam Church Dogmatics II, serta hubungannya antara anugerah dan dosa dalam Church Dogmatics IV. Hasil dari telaah terhadap tiga tema tersebut kemudian diuji dan didapati bahwa dalam doktrin keselamatan Barth, penghukuman kekal tidak dimungkinkan. Namun hal itu bukan berarti ia merendahkan dosa, melainkan justru menekankan karya Kristus sebagai sesuatu yang sentral dalam melihat tema ini.

Christian Arisandi Kiding Allo, Peneliti Independen

Lahir dan besar di Bali, Christian Arisandi Kiding Allo menyelesaikan Sarjana Teologi di STT Satyabhakti. Ia melanjutkan pendidikan Magister Filsafat di STF Driyarkara dan lulus dengan tesis “Keselamatan Universal dalam Pemikiran Karl Barth.” Saat ini Christian sedang aktif menekuni tulisan dan teologi Karl Barth sebagai seorang peneliti independen.
