Abstrak

Perayaan Perjamuan Kudus telah mengarungi perjalanan sejarah selama lebih dari dua ribu tahun sejak Kristus menginstitusikan praktik tersebut. Namun, cara Perjamuan Kudus dipraktikkan saat ini di banyak gereja Reformed mungkin asing bagi kekristenan abad pertama. Memang benar elemen-elemen penting dari kebiasaan paling awal, yaitu konteks agape, telah menghilang di masa kini—sebuah fakta yang berkaitan erat dengan gagasan spiritualitas kontemporer. Studi ini mengamati hilangnya hidangan atau jamuan dalam perayaan Perjamuan Kudus dewasa ini, khususnya di gereja-gereja Reformed/Injili di Indonesia. Menunjuk pada Perjamuan Terakhir Yesus, perayaan Paskah, serta kebiasaan Kristen awal dalam memecahkan roti yang mengacu pada agape (perjamuan kasih atau makan bersama), tulisan ini menekankan pentingnya konteks makan agape dalam perayaan Perjamuan Kudus. Perkembangan Perjamuan Kudus, sebagaimana dapat ditelusuri secara historis melalui Gereja Katolik Roma dan Reformasi Protestan di Abad Pertengahan, mempersaksikan pergeseran-pergeseran dari roti dan anggur menjadi suatu santapan sakral dan makanan simbolis. Tulisan ini mengusulkan sebuah pandangan non-dikotomis terhadap hidangan Perjamuan Kudus dengan memadukan yang sekuler dan yang sakral—perjamuan makan yang sesungguhnya dan makanan simbolis. Akhirnya, tulisan ini menunjukkan bagaimana pemulihan agape sebagai latar belakang Perjamuan Kudus memiliki arti penting bagi spiritualitas bersama.

Jessica adalah lulusan STT Reformed Indonesia program Magister Teologi Integratif. Saat ini, ia aktif mengajar di STT Reformed Indonesia sebagai dosen tetap. Minat riset utamanya mencakup psikologi dan teologi.
